FEUP's Library Working Conditions during COVID-19 pandemic

The Library is presently working according to new rules that enable FEUP's community to use its spaces, even if in a limited way. All users must comply with the following regulations so that the Library can provide good service and guarantee the safety of all.

Access and working conditions:

  • Opening schedule: from 8:30 AM to 07:30PM.
  • Spaces available only for FEUP's community; users must show UPorto's card upon entrance;
  • Face mask and hand sanitisation at the entrance is mandatory; people without face mask won't be allowed to enter the building;
  • The Library had to reduce space's capacity and to control access to the building. Only one person at a time is allowed to enter inside the building; in case many people are waiting for their turn, they should remain outside of the building;
  • There is a signalised circuit for inner circulation.

Available services and working conditions:

  • At the Library users may borrow documents and study in the reading rooms, which have their capacity limited as follows:
    • Floor -1: access to WC;
    • Ground floor: Frontdesk support (loans, returns and general support);
    • Floors 1 to 5: single and silent study only;
    • Floor 6: single study offices and group study room (C604).
  • There are cleaning products for users at the entrance of each study room (hand sanitiser and towels).
  • Study seats are fixed and fully identified. Please keep chairs in place and respect social distancing.
  • To use a study seat, users need to CHECK-IN (on arrival) and CHECK-OUT (on leaving) according to the available instructions (QR code scanning or access to provided link). This procedure will help the Library to provide real-time information on the occupancy rate on each floor at the following page: http://bit.do/pisosbiblioteca.
  • Be aware that are not allowed to reserve study places, so don’t leave your belongings unattende . If you plan to be away (more than 15 min.), check-out your seat for others to use it.

Access to the collection and services:

  • Users may freely access to bookshelves and consult books but should clean their hands before and after that procedure. Once finished, they should leave books on the book carts near the shelves;
  • To use single study offices, users must book them previously in SIGARRA.  On the booking day, users must pick up the key at the Library’s Front Desk.
  • Users may use computers and digitisation/print equipment on floors 1 and 3 as usual, according to FEUP's rules;
  • The Library may change these conditions due to further emergent needs, or users and staff's safety..

Let us remind you that you may count on our support through our remotely available resources and services:
